It’s early in May and the Cannes film festival has just started.
Imagine the scene in some A-list Hollywood agency. A junior employee sits at her desk munching a lettuce leave.

View of the citadel from Cannes portside
‘Finish that quick, Mr Cloopitjolie, needs somewhere to eat tonight.’
‘Where is he?’
‘France’
‘Where’s that?’
‘Europe’
There’s still a blank look on the face of the junior employee.
‘Damn it just get on the internet and search for restaurants Riviera, Provence.’
‘Ok, how long have I got?’
’20 minutes.’
Google pops up on the screen. Within 15 minutes the employee is running to her boss, nearly tripping over in her Manolos as she does so, waving a piece of paper so excitedly that the back-draft nearly blows her over.
The boss is pleased. ‘This is brilliant, where did you get it?’

How the office junior felt about the guru and also a shop sign in Cannes
‘I asked the guru.’
‘Not another F***ing scientologist?’
‘No they are husband and wife….’
‘I don’t have time to care….just send it.’
And that is the story of how the guru came to have its first A-list client.
We wish we could tell you who it was, but all requests are treated with the utmost secrecy.
Instead here’s the request we were sent and our response:
If money were no object and you had a chauffeur to drive you around where would you eat near Cannes?

Nice spot for lunch – the Chevre D’Or just outside Cannes
Chevre D’Or Eze

Has one of the most stunning views the Guru has ever seen. We only had a drink on the terrace…but we made it last!
Club 55 St Tropez
Telephone
04 94 55 55 55
Club 55 is one of the most famous beach clubs in the world. A celebrity hang out especially in July and August. Great atmosphere and very good food.
Le Colombe D’Or – St Paul de Vence
Made famous as many young artists used to come and stay here, they paid their hotel bills with paintings and as a result the walls are still covered with some of the most celebrated artists including Picasso. Very well known and a must visit.
Restaurant Bacon – Cap D’Antibes
Legendary hang out for the well to do. Famous for it’s excellent fish.
Le Moulin de Mougins – Mougins
Mougins is just behind Cannes and this restaurant is a real foodies delight.
Les Belles Rives – Juan les Pins
The guru loves the terrace of this lovely hotel. Hemingway famously wrote here and you can see why.

Just a wonderfully relaxed, yet luxurious place for a seaside lunch
Plage de la Pinede – Juan les Pins
We have a real soft spot for this fantastic beach club in Juan les Pins as we sold rose there for Jamie’s second book La Vie en Rose. It is a real “eat with your feet in the sand” type of place…at the same time the food is absolutely fantastic. Hire a sunlounger and spend the day. Must book. (for a sunlounger too)
