Provence Guide – Autumn Events
Provence Guide by Provence Guru, the essential guide to what to see and do in Provence this Autumn
Provence is a wonderful place to visit in Autumn. In the vineyards the leaves of the vines are turning golden, the sun is still warm, but the fierce heat of summer is forgotten. Tourists can walk the streets of Aix, Avignon and Arles without the hassle of dealing with the summer crowds. In short it’s the perfect time to explore and attend events.
Autumn highlights include a light show on the walls of the Palais du Pape, the Millevin celebration of the new harvest also in Avignon, and the opening of the Truffle season in Richerenche at the beginning of November. As always a visit to the Carrieres des Lumieres in Les Baux de Provence is recommended. Visitors enjoy a multi-media art show with works by famous painters set to music and projected onto the walls of the old quarry. In the centre of Aix en Provence the Hotel Caumont is also well worth a visit.
