A case which could have serious consequences for the European Union is being heard in an Aix en Provence court this week. A pizza delivery man is arguing that he is entitled to pay his €5,000 legal bill in pizzas. The lawyer involved is arguing that the free pizzas he has accepted to date, were exactly that, free pizzas and that the bill remains due in full. The government is concerned that if it becomes common to pay bills in this fashion, tax revenues will fall.

Here at the Guru we are fully behind the pizza delivery man. Think what a boost a landmark ruling would give to the sluggish property market. Instead of a Luberon mas costing €2 million euros it could be yours for 200,000 margheritas or 100,000 of Eduoard Loubet’s truffle pizzas.
