Luberon restaurant

Our quick bites series continues with Restaurant de La Fontaine, Luberon restaurant

Where?

In the centre of the village, opposite the large parking used for the Sunday market, in a shady square, next to a fountain

What’s on offer?

Provencal cooking, competitively priced, quality ingredients

Why go?

The setting is idyllic underneath a plane tree with a trickling fountain right next to the tables. Calm compared with nearby touristy villages of Lourmarin and Cucuron.

Wine?

House wine at 2euros a glass and a small selection of local vineyards

Who goes?

Villagers and second home owneres

We ate:

14 euro set lunch: Aubergine, veal and cheese and tomato sauce starter, followed by Confit de Canard, and a pannacotta dessert

The verdict:

Best value for miles around.
